Hulu Shows off New Trailer for Marvel Series ‘Helstrom’ at Comic Con @ Home

Hulu released a new trailer today for its upcoming series Helstrom as seen via its Comic Con @ Home press event. Helstrom is a comic book series based in the Marvel universe that centers around the characters Daimon and Ana Hellstrom, who are also known to be the half children of Satan.

The forty minute virtual panel featured series showrunner Paul Zbyszewski (Lost, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.) who was joined alongside by Helstrom’s cast, including Tom Austen (The Royals), Sydney Lemmon (Fear the Walking Dead), Elizabeth Marvel (Homeland, True Grit), Robert Wisdom (Prison Break, The Wire), Ariana Guerra (Candy Jar, Five Feet Apart), June Carryl (One Fine Christmas), and Alain Uy (True Detective). While they didn’t discuss the gritty details about either the plot or characters, Zbyszewski and the cast did describe Helstrom as a family drama that’s interwoven with horror and occult influences.

Helstrom is created and executive produced by Zbyszewski along with Karim Zreik (The Defenders, Daredevil) and Jeph Loeb (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Jessica Jones). It is being co-produced by Marvel Television and ABC Signature Studios and distributed through Hulu’s streaming service. The first season of the series will debut on October 16 and will run for ten episodes.

IMBD gives this synopsis for the series: “Daimon and Ana Helstrom are the son and daughter of a mysterious and powerful serial killer. The siblings have a complicated dynamic as they track down the terrorizing worst of humanity – each with their attitude and skills.”

Helstrom was a comic originally created by writer Roy Thomas (Conan the Barbarian, The Defenders) and artist Gary Friedrich (Ghost Rider, Sgt. Fury and his Howling Commandos) following the success of other occult titles like Ghost Rider and The Tomb of Dracula. Daimon Hellstrom made his first appearance in Ghost Rider #1 in September of 1973, before receiving his own feature comic titled the Son of Satan later that year in October.
