

Emmy-winning show Only Murders in the Building is set to premiere its fifth season on the streaming platform Hulu on September 9, 2025. Hulu will start with three episodes, then drop the rest of the series, rolling out weekly according to Deadline.
According to Deadline, its three stars — Steve Martin (Father of the Bride, Father of the Bride Part 2), Martin Short (Innerspace, Father of the Bride), and Selena Gomez (Spiral, King of the Golden Sun) — revealed the news on Instagram early in the morning. The season renewal came after season four earned seven Emmy nominations, including Outstanding Comedy Series.
Deadline indicated that season five’s cast will include Martin, Short, Gomez, and Michael Cyril Creighton (American Fiction, Paper Spiders), along with special guest starts, Meryl Streep (The Devil Wears Prada, Sophie’s Choice), Da’Vine Joy Randolph (Bride Hard), Richard Kind (Nobody Knows Anything, Inside Out), Nathan Lane (The Birdcage, Win a Date with Tad Hamilton), Bobby Cannavale (The Station Agent, Blue Moon, Unstoppable), Renee Zellweger (Bridget Jones: Mad About The boy, The Perfect Date), Logan Lerman (Let It Play, End Of Sentence), Christopher Waltz (Dead For a Dollar, Made In Hollywood), Tea Leoni (Death of a Unicorn, The Smell of Success), Keegan-Michael Key (Dear Santa, IF), Beanie Feldstein (Booksmart, Lade Burd), Diane Wiest (Sisters, I Care a Lot), Jermaine Fowler (Don’t Tell Mom The Babysitter’s Dead, First Time Female Director) and many more.
Deadline also mentioned that in season five, Lester, the beloved doorman, suspiciously dies. The trio (Martin, Short, and Gomez) refuses to believe that the death was an accident. As they continue to investigate, the trio uncovers dangerous secrets of billionaires, mobsters, and other residents of their city, Arconia.
Only Murders in the Building is a 20th Century produced television program that is co-created by Martin and John Hoffman (The Emoji Movie, Good Boy), who also executive produces along side, Short and Gomez, Dan Forgelman (Life Itself, Danny Collins), Jess Rosenthal (The Perfect Date, Fire with Fire), Ben Smith (Giveaway, Meet Cute) and JJ Philbin (Big Daddy, New Girl).
