According to The Hollywood Reporter, Hulu has renewed the dramatic series Tell Me Lies for a third season. The series which follows a toxic romance between two people through their college and young adult years comes two months after the second season ended on a cliffhanger. Meaghan Oppenheimer (Fear the Walking Dead, Brocken), who created the series based on Carola Lovering’s (Bye, Baby, Can’t Look Away) 2018 novel, will continue as showrunner.
Oppenheimer told The Hollywood Reporter after the second season ended that she want sure on if a third season was even an option. Although it has been renewed she originally said if a third season didn’t happen she would be okay with leaving the series in its unresolved state. “I always like to leave people guessing. And I also think some of my favorite shows, even when they end, leave things not completely resolved,” she said. “I don’t hate those stories that have open endings. So I was sort of of the mind of, let’s have a cliffhanger so that people want to come back and, if we don’t get to answer it, then that’s life (laughs). I’m always trying to surprise people. I’m always trying to surprise the audience, because it’s just very fun to do.”
The cast of the series includes Grace Van Patten (Mayday, Good Posture) as Lucy, Jackson White (The Space Between, Number 2) as Stephen, Catherine Missal (Natural Selection, The Blacklist) as Bree, Spencer House (The Time Traveler’s Wife, Small Engine Repair) as Wrigley, Branden Cook (Master of the Air, The Lost Boys) as Evan, Sonia Mena (Artist Unknown, Freezerburn) as Pippa and many others.
Oppenheimer executive produces with Emma Roberts (Scream Queens, American Horror Story), co-founder Karah Preiss (First Kill, Pillowcase) and Matt Matruski (The Prosecutors: In Pursuit of Justice, The Bone Yard).
Tell Me Lies is available to stream on Hulu.
