With the second season of Love, Victor being just around the corner, Hulu has released an official trailer for the show’s sophomore season. According to TVLine, Love, Victor‘s second season is set to release Friday, June 11 on Hulu, with all ten episodes of the season available to stream that day.
In the full trailer, Victor is navigating his relationships after coming out as gay to his family and friends. He and his romantic interest, Benji, try to figure out their undefined relationship while Victor simultaneously seeks approval from both his basketball teammates and Benji’s friends, via TVLine. Victor’s mother, Isabel, appears to be struggling with Victor’s sexuality in the trailer so Victor additionally has to help his parent’s understand him better.
Also seen in the trailer are Felix and Lake, who are absolutely enamored with one another. According to TVLine, Felix’s mother’s battle with depression continues in the new season while Mia attempts to get back together with Andrew, only for her plans to be foiled.
While both the first and second seasons of Love, Victor are classified as Hulu Originals, the second season of the young adult dramedy is the first to be created solely for Hulu. According to TVLine, the series was initially intended to be apart of the Disney+ launch slate back in November of 2019. However, more mature themes began to surface within the show, forcing it to be rebranded for Hulu.
With this production change comes new opportunities for the future of Love, Victor as a series. Brian Tanen (writer, Grand Hotel), the co-showrunner for Love, Victor stated that “[they’d] love to tell sexier stories. That’s going to be so much more exciting on a network like Hulu, which, since they’ve adopted us, have been so supportive of the show and incredible partners” (TVLine).
