Hulu announced on Hulu Press that their live TV streaming service package will increase their amount price by 10 dollars. The price for their service which has increased twice over the last year first began when Hulu’s starting price changed from 40 dollars to 45 dollars a month back in February. The change will happen again from its current price of 45 to 55 dollars (with ads) and 60 dollars for customers who prefer the option without ads. Hulu’s option with the live television options bundle will allow viewers to watch over 60 live television channels and networks along with dozens of Hulu’s featured shows and originals series content.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the increases from their original starting price has accumulated for an overall growth of 22 percent in consumer expenditure. Hulu detailed the price change will begin on December 18thand customers will see the payment increase in their next billing cycle. In a Hulu Press update, it stated “Price changes are never easy to stomach, and we know that many people don’t watch live television year-round, so we’ve made it easy for Hulu subscribers to switch back and forth between our plans to best suit their needs.”
The announcement of the price change comes after the increasing number of networks that are set to join the streaming service including “ESPN, Fox Sports, CNN, FX, TNT, Bravo and all major broadcast networks” (Hulu). Hulu also just announcement its deal with FX earlier this month, in which FX Network shows will be featured on Hulu’s streaming service starting in March 2020. (mxdwn)
Hulu’s original streaming service price without the live television is still an option, with a six-dollar fee with ads and twelve dollars without ads. Hulu is also offering a deal together with Disney+ that includes Disney+, ESPN, and Hulu for just thirteen dollars.
