Hulu just released the season 4 trailer for Veronica Mars, building anticipation for its premiere on July 26. After a three year break, cult classic Veronica Mars has been revived by Hulu and renewed for a fourth season after the series’ cancellation in 2007. Hulu will be releasing seasons one, two, and three on July 1st, offering members the chance to catch up before the fourth season of Veronica Mars drops on the streaming service.
The trailer features returning characters, which include Dick Casablancas (Ryan Hansen) and Eli “Weevil” Navarro (Francis Capra). A plethora of new characters have been added to the original set, including ex-con Clyde Prickett (J.K. Simmons) and pizza delivery guy Penn Epner (Patton Oswalt). Kirby-Howell, who was Kristen Bell’s co-star on The Good Place, plays a nightclub owner. Fan favorites returning to Neptune include Wallace Fennel (Percy Dags III), Vinnie Van Lowe (Ken Marino), and Leo D’Amato (Max Greenfield). Veronica’s longtime love interest Logan Echolls will also make his return.
In the reboot, the small seaside town of Neptune, California has become the site of unexplained bombings. When Veronica and her father are hired by the family of one of the victims, they are tasked with investigating the cause. According to the synopsis provided by Hulu, season 4 will involve a class conflict between the wealthy elites and the working class that relies on Neptune’s tourism.
Here is the full synopsis:
Spring breakers are getting murdered in Neptune, thereby decimating the seaside town’s lifeblood tourist industry. After Mars Investigations is hired by the family of one of the victims to find their son’s killer, Veronica is drawn into an epic eight-episode mystery that pits the enclave’s wealthy elites, who would rather put an end to the month-long bacchanalia, against a working class that relies on the cash influx that comes with being the West Coast’s answer to Daytona Beach.
This reboot of Veronica Mars is part of a larger trend. Many cancelled shows from the 90s and 2000s have been revived by streaming platforms. The Veronica Mars revival was made possible in part by the famous Kickstarter that launched the 2014 film, which was based on the television show.
Season 4 of Veronica Mars will premiere on Hulu on July 26th.
