Hulu was unavailable to users yesterday afternoon, with several subscribers across the country reporting that the streamer was down, according to Deadline. While users began posting concerned comments on Hulu’s social media pages, the Hulu Support Twitter page did not address the situation.
Eventually, the company made a statement. “We are aware of a technical issue impacting Hulu,” it said. “We are working to resolve it quickly.” #huludown was trending on Twitter just hours after the Disney-owned streamer was unavailable.
The main page for the streamer read an error message Thursday, “We’ll be back,” it read. “This page is temporarily unavailable. Please try refreshing the page or go back to the homepage.”
Meanwhile, other users reported that they received an error message after attempts to play a title, “We’re having trouble reading this,” it said. “Rest assured, we’re working on it. In the meantime, it may help if you restart the video.”
By 9 p.m. Pacific time, Hulu appeared to be working.
This outage came as Netflix experienced its first drop in subscribers in a decade and CNN+ shut down just one month after its launch.
