Ryan Murphy’s (American Horror Story) new multi-cam series, Mid-Century Modern, has announced its release date. According to Deadline, fans can gear up for the premiere on March 28th. Hulu debuts a new type of comedy following three older gay men. The show starts off with three friends experiencing a shocking death in the friend group. After a great loss, this leads them to spend the rest of their years living in Palm Springs together. The story will follow the path of friendship and the ups and downs of life. With the comedy aspect, we’ll see on of the characters still living with their mother.
The creators of the series are some familiar faces. Max Mutchnick (Will & Grace) and David Kohan (Will & Grace) created and wrote the new comedy. The cast for the series excites fans and provides high expectations. We follow Matt Bomer (The Boys in the Band) starring as Jerry Frank, Nathan Lane (Only Murders In the Building) starring as Bunny Schneiderman, and her last and memorable role Linda Lavin (No Good Deed) as Sybil Schneiderman.
Lavin spent her final role with the new Hulu series. In December Lavin ultimately met her battle with lung cancer. Fans anticipate her performance but are sad to see her go. Viewers will get to see her in the ten-part series for season one. Writers Mutchnick and Kohan thought it was best to write off her character in a tribute episode. They shared with Deadline the experience of paying respects to a friend. “This Week at Mid-Century Modern we filmed an episode I never thought we’d have to write”.
They continued, “Saying goodbye to the character of Sybil was painful. Saying goodbye to Linda Lavin was heartbreaking.” In their final remarks, they decided to title episode ten “Here’s to You, Mrs. Schneiderman”.
Fans are raving about the series plot and are excited to see something different. Tune into Hulu on March 28th for the premiere.
