Entertainment Weekly has reported that Hulu is developing a new miniseries about Robert F. Kennedy, starring Chris Pine as the iconic politician. The series will come from Todd E. Kessler, known for Pan Am and The Good Wife.
Untitled as of yet, the series will be based on the 2016 best-selling biography of Kennedy written by Larry Tye, Bobby Kennedy: The Making of a Liberal Icon. Kessler will write the on screen-adaptation and will work as executive producer along with Pine.
The biography is famously based on a wide series of interviews with many close to the Kennedy politician as well as large amounts of previously unpublished material. The varied bibliography of Tye’s book opens up unique possibilities for how the Hulu drama could be structured. The miniseries might choose to tell Bobby Kennedy’s story through the eyes of others using Tye’s sources, or might relay the events of Kennedy’s life in a more straightforward fashion.
Pine enjoyed a successful year with his most recent blockbuster Wonder Woman, which was just confirmed as the highest-grossing film of the summer. In addition to the Hulu Robert F. Kennedy drama, his upcoming projects include the Netflix film Outlaw King, a TNT limited series called One Day She’ll Darken (in which he’ll work with Wonder Woman director Patti Jenkins yet again), and Ava DuVernay’s adaptation of A Wrinkle in Time.
