According to Comicbook, Hulu has recently canceled How I Met Your Father after only running for two seasons. Based on the spin-off of the CBS sitcom How I Met Your Mother the new sitcom starred Hilary Duff (Lizzie McGuire) as the protagonist Sophie as she ventures through the ins and outs of living in New York. The cancellation also means fans will never get to see the entire journey of how Sophie meets her future husband as she is telling her child the story of how they met. This cancellation comes shortly after the streamer also canceled The Great.
According to Comicbook, the series follows Sophie who recounts her life living in New York and how certain events would eventually lead to her meeting her future husband and father of their child. Sophie is surrounded by her very eccentric friend group as they deal with different issues and try to adult the best they can in a big city.
Neil Patrick Harris (A Series of Unfortunate Events) even makes a cameo in the series. Duff even revealed in an interview earlier this year, “Him coming on to the set was a such a big deal that they only handed out certain scripts with his scene in it, and the other ones had missing pages or just didn’t make sense in the context of like, going from this to that. It was a big, big, big, big deal – and I felt very nervous and excited.”
The series cast includes Christopher Lowell (The Help) as Jesse, Francia Raisa (Grown-ish) as Valentina, Suraj Sharma (Life of Pi) as Sid, Tom Ainsley (The Royals) as Charlie, Tien Tran (Hot Date) as Ellen, and Josh Peck (Drake & Josh) as Drew.
The two current seasons of the series are available to stream on Hulu.
