Two new show titles will be added to the FX on Hulu lineup on the streaming platform. The upcoming American Horror Story spin-off series American Horror Stories and Y: The Last Man will be added to Hulu’s FX original series, according to Deadline. Unveiling itself in early March 2020, the streaming service Hulu enabled FX to have an original content platform on its site and app for new releases and other past titles. These two series join other FX on Hulu titles such as the new series The Old Man starring Jeff Bridges (The Big Lebowski, True Grit) and Kate Mara’s (House of Cards, Pose) A Teacher in addition to FX shows that have been released on the platform such as the limited series Devs starring Nick Offerman (Parks and Recreation) and Mrs. America featuring Cate Blanchett (Blue Jasmine, Carol).
American Horror Stories was announced to be in works at FX and under supervision from its parent show, AHS, showrunner Ryan Murphy (Hollywood, Glee). After a zoom call with members of previous AHS casts, Murphy announced via an Instagram post that the parent show will have a spin-off series that will be composed of hour-long episodes. Currently, there is no announced cast or narrative details revolving the new anthology series from Murphy.
Y: The Last Man has been in the works at FX since 2015 and is an adaptation of a post-apocalyptic comic book series under the same name from DC Comics. The comic book series follows its main character Yorick Brown and his pet monkey Ampersand during their adventures following their survival as the sole male survivors from a global genocide directed towards the world’s male population. The series is currently being supervised by the showrunner Eliza Clark (The Killing, Animal Kingdom) and will feature Melina Matsoukas as a director for some of its episodes. The cast includes Ben Schnetzer (Pride, Snowden) as Yorick Brown, Diane Lane (Unfaithful, The Outsiders) as Senator Jennifer Brown, Lashana Lynch (Captain Marvel) as Agent 355, Imoen Poots (Roadies, 28 Weeks Later) as Hero Brown, Marin Ireland (Sneaky Pete, The Irishman) as Nora, and many others. The series is currently anticipating a 2020 or an early 2021 premiere although there is not a definitive date attached to the newly announced FX on Hulu series.
