It’s the final season for CBS’s How I Met Your Mother. Season 9, premiering this fall, will be the last season for this comedy.
How I Met Your Mother is the story of Ted Mosby (Josh Radnor) as he searches for true love. He stumbled his way through life in NYC with the help (or not) of his friends Marshall (Jason Segel), Lily (Alyson Hannigan), Barney (Neil Patrick Harris) and Robin (Cobie Smulders). All 8 seasons have been leading up to the introduction of Ted’s future wife.
Series co-creator Carter Bays confirms that season 9 will be spent getting to know “the mother”. Cristin Milioti has been confirmed as a regular cast member during the season. It is relieving to know that the series won’t end with the meeting of the mother, but fans will get to know her and see why the first eight seasons were worth it in oder to find her.
CBS announced that the season 9 premiere will be a special hour-long episode. Bays confides that the entire 9th season will be set in the weekend of Barney and Robin’s wedding. And though this sounds very boring, there will be time jumps in every episode, so the season will be told in a series of flashbacks and flash forwards. CBS entertainment president Nina Tassler has said that Season 9 will show “how each character, before Ted, meets the mother. So, they each meet her independently before he does.”
What else does season 9 have in store? Two words: Slap bet.
