During her appearance on last night’s episode of NBC’s The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon, actress Milly Alcock recalled an embarrassing moment on the set of HBO’s House of the Dragon, in which “someone very high up” pulled her aside to inform her she would be receiving acting lessons.

“On my second day on House of the Dragon,” Alcock told Fallon on her first-ever talk show appearance per Deadline, “one of the — I’m not gonna say who, but someone very high up — pulled me aside and was like, ‘Um, we’re gonna get you an acting coach.’”

House of the Dragon saw Alcock step into the shoes of the teenage version of Rhaenyra Targaryen, a dragon-riding princess whose struggle for the Iron Throne echoes that of her descendant Daenerys in its renowned sister series Game of Thrones. Like Daenerys, Rhaenyra has become a standout among viewers — which makes the HBO executive’s comments all the more surprising.

Although the message seemed to shock Fallon and his audience, it only served to reaffirm Alcock’s fears about her own performance. “It just confirmed everything that I’ve kind of known to be true, which is that I’m not very good at my job,” Allock said via Deadline.

The audience let out a groan of disapproval, while Fallon quickly protested Alcock’s comment:  “From the very first episode, you were a fan favorite! That guy was wrong. You are unbelievable.”

As evidence for his claim, Fallon reminded Alcock that season one of House of the Dragon won a Golden Globe in 2023 for “Best Drama Series”. The Australian actress responded “I didn’t win it!” to which Fallon retorted, “Yeah, you did. You won. Your show won.” The audience voiced their agreement with a round of whooping and cheering, which ended up putting a sheepish smile on Alcock’s face. Alcock will fill leading role in Netflix’s upcoming black comedy series Sirens, and also portray Supergirl in director James Gunn’s (Guardians of the Galaxy, Scooby Doo) upcoming reboot of the DC cinematic universe, per Deadline. Sirens releases tomorrow on May 22nd, 2025, while Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow will premiere in theaters on June 26th, 2026.
