‘House of Cards’ Actor Kevin Spacey Charged with Criminal Complaint

Amidst the rise in sexual allegations, Kevin Spacey, from the popular series House of Cards on Netflix, posted a bizarre video. On December 20th, Clerk Magistrate Ryan Kearney charged a criminal complaint “against Kevin S. Fowler, also known as Kevin Spacey.”

Spacey titled the video “Let me be Frank,” and posted it to his Twitter account on Monday. In the video, he takes on his role of Frank from House of Cards, even reassuming the southern accent. After Spacey was fired over sexual allegations, his part was written out of the series and Netflix even held a burial for his character, Francis J. “Frank” Underwood, laying him to rest in South Carolina so that fans could visit his graveside. Many are still speculating Spacey’s motives in posting this video, but it is almost certainly a response to his sexual allegations.

In 2017, a former news anchor in Boston claimed Spacey assaulted her 18-year old son back in 2016. Heather Unruh, the mother who claims her son was assaulted, states that she came out about the issue due to the changing climate. “There is less victim-blaming going on now,” she stated. “I was really emboldened by the victims in the Harvey Weinstein case. They were astonishingly brave women and they’ve come out in such large numbers and it sparked a lot of conversation in our house about it being the right time.” However, in this case, Unruh is claiming that her son was straight and “starstruck,” not the typical #MeToo material.

Unruh explained that her son was at the Club Car Restaurant on Nantucket when Spacey offered him a drink. Although he was not of legal drinking age, he complied, and continued to let Spacey buy him multiple alcoholic beverages. “My son was a starstruck, straight 18-year-old young man who had no idea that the famous actor was an alleged sexual predator or that he was about to become his next victim,” Unruh said, defending her son’s decision. “When my son was drunk, Spacey made his move and sexually assaulted him.” Furthermore, Unruh explained that her son had made it clear Spacey’s sexual advances were unwanted. “Spacey stuck his hand inside my son’s pants and grabbed his genitals,” Unruh recounted, choking back the tears. “My son’s efforts to shift his body to remove Spacey’s hand were only momentarily successful. My son panicked, he froze. He was intoxicated.”

After this incident, Spacey allegedly asked Unruh’s son to join him for an after-party. Spacey got up to use the bathroom, and it was then that a woman approached her son and warned him to escape. Unruh explains that her son ran to his grandmother’s house and woke his sister. They then called their mother and she flew to Nantucket from Boston immediately the next day.

There was another allegation in 2017 by Anthony Rapp, an actor in Star Trek: Discovery. Rapp claimed it occurred back in 1986 when he was only 14. According to Rapp’s account, Spacey “picked me up like a groom picks up the bride over the threshold. But I don’t, like, squirm away initially, because I’m like, ‘What’s going on?’ And then he lays down on top of me.” Spacey tweeted an apology after Rapp’s allegation, claiming that he is now openly gay.

There are also several other sexual allegations against Spacey made both in Los Angeles and England that are currently being investigated.
