Host Rosie Perez Announces Her Exit From ‘The View’

Rosie Perez has announced that even though she is leaving The View, she will finish out this season

Perez, star of Broadway’s Fish in the Dark, will be leaving the show without a replacement host as of yet.

Whoopi Goldberg commented on the departure of Perez. She said,“We want to make sure that everyone on Twitter calms down, she’s not leaving today!”

Perez’s last show airs on August 6. She gave sincere thanks to her co-hosts Goldberg and Nicolle Wallace. Perez said, “I want to thank you for your friendship, Nicolle, and your intelligence and your wit and your sunshine.” With tears in her eyes she said, “Whoopi, I want to thank you for everything. Your guidance, your professionalism, and most of all your friendship. It’s a dream, sitting here with you, and you are truly the captain of the ship.”

According to Entertainment Weekly, Perez also gave heartfelt thanks to the show. “I really want to thank The View. Thank you very, very much and the entire ABC family for such a great opportunity to be part of such an iconic show that has opened me up to a broader audience and I will be forever grateful for that, but the ones that I want to thank the most are the fans,” Perez stated. “It warms my heart, it really does, every time one of you guys come up to me and say, ‘I love you on The View,’ it just makes my day. And I really want to give a special thank-you to the Latin community. It’s a huge honor to be the first Latina on The View.” She then added, “What the hell took you so long?”

Rosie Perez’s replacement has yet to be determined. Speculations have been made that frequent guest host, Michelle Collins, will be her replacement.
