According to The Hollywood Reporter, A+E Networks cabler has ordered a docuseries that will give viewers an inside look on the global war on terror. The series, which is titled Warfighters will give viewers an inside look at the harsh realities of war by revealing recent U.S. Special Operations Forces mission in the global war on terror. The series will have hourlong episodes and includes interviews, cinematic sequences and actual images and footage from real operations in Iraq and Afghanistan. The goal of the series is to show all the difficulties and stressful environments Army Rangers, Green Berets, Marines and Navy SEALS endure when facing the longest ongoing conflict in American history.
History will be releasing the series on Veteran’s Day with four back-back episodes. Peter Berg is working with veteran Special Forces Green Beret Bert Kuntz for the series. The duo are also teaming up for History series The Selection: Special Operations Experiment. In addition, new episodes of Warfighters will be released in 2017. The series hails from Berg’s unscripted banner Film 45. Berg will exec produce the series along with Film 45’s Matt Goldberg and Brandon Carroll, as well as History’s Matt Ginsburg Russ McCarroll and Paul Cabana. Jenny Ewig is also attached to the project as co-executive producer, with former Navy SEAL Ray Mendoza and former Army Ranger Mike Baumgarten will produce.
“We can never do enough to pay tribute to our vets and military servicemen. I’m incredibly happy that History continues honoring these great men and women with The Warfighters,” Berg said. “This series is special to me because we get to make it with veterans.” Berg’s warm film credits include Lone Survivor and The Selection: Special Operations Experiment. Berg also executive produced Live to Tell, which showed viewers multiple first-person stories regarding recent U.S. Special Operations Forces missions. Watch Warfighters on Friday, November 11 at 8 p.m.
