In an interview with Variety co-creator of Better Call Saul, Vince Gilligan, talked about the upcoming season, “I think what happens next is actually going to surprise people. It’s not what we thought it would be”. The second season of the Emmy nominated Breaking Bad spin-off, Better Call Saul, is premiering in 2016 on AMC. While the second season is in the distant future, AMC has released the first look at this new season (via Entertainment Weekly).
In the first photo release of the drama, we can see the lawyer Jimmy McGill (Bob Odenkirk) having what seems to be an unpleasant conversation with two men in suits (pictured above).
In another photo released by AMC, fans can see the two executive producers and co-creators, Vince Gilligan and Peter Gould, on the set.
Earlier in July, AMC announced Better Call Saul’s renewal and return for season 2. The second season started filming fourth of July weekend in Alburquerque, N.M.
The premiere season for Better Call Saul had huge success in ratings. The first season averaged about 5.9 million viewers according to Variety. AMC’s president, Charlie Collier, made a statement about the show and it’s overwhelming positive response, “The broad and passionate response to their incredibly well-executed vision, and to the achievements of the entire writing team, cast, crew, our studio partner, Sony, and – of course, notably, the remarkable Bob Odenkirk – is so well-deserved. ‘Better Call Saul’ has already established itself as one of TV’s top dramas, and we can’t wait to share season two as Slippin’ Jimmy continues his metamorphosis into full-on Sauldom” (Variety).
In an interview with the Daily News, Gilligan talked about a possible appearance from the beloved Walter White played by Bryan Cranston on Better Call Saul, “It would be great to see Walter White on ‘Better Caul Saul… It would be a shame if the show had its run — hopefully a very long run — and he never appeared”.
A Bryan Cranston cameo on the spin-off show is still just a rumor, but the second season of Better Call Saul will be debuting in early 2016 on AMC..
