Henry Cavill Expresses Wish To Join Amazon’s ‘Mass Effect’ Series

Superman himself Henry Cavill (Man of Steel, The Witcher) expressed an interest to join Amazon Studio’s adaptation of the Mass Effect game series during an interview with GamesRadar while on the press circuit for season two of The Witcher.

“I would love to have a conversation,” Cavill told GamesRadar.

A well-documented gaming fan, Cavill is no stranger to the mythos of the Mass Effect franchise and wants to see it respected in an adaptation. He told GamesRadar that it was all about how Amazon stayed true to the source material.

“The world of adaptation can be heavy or light. When I like a product, I prefer the adaptation to be less changed from the source, so it all depends,” Cavill said.

According to Collider, Amazon is in talks with Electronic Arts to purchase the rights to Mass Effect. Since November, the two companies have been working on this deal, with reportedly significant traction going the way of a show being produced.

This news is not the first connection between Cavill and this project. In February of this year, IGN reported on a picture Cavill posted on his Instagram in full Geralt of Rivia regalia while shooting The Witcher. The picture showed Cavill holding a blurred paper with the caption reading, “Secret project? Or just a handful of paper with random words on it… Guess you’ll have to wait and see. Happy hump day all.”

After using a plethora of different computer programs to clear the blur from this image, IGN found that the piece of paper contained multiple other words associated with the franchise. Was he researching a future role or simply exploring a game he was in the midst of playing? With this new news, we can only hope for the former.

Mass Effect is a science-fiction role-playing game that sees the player take control of Commander Shepard. In the game, Shepard and his team fight off an alien race bent on destroying all life known as Reapers while also solving ancient galactic mysteries.
