Fresh off two extremely exciting gold games and a controversial after-party for the USA men’s team, television returns to the ice. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Heated Rivalry is set to begin filming this summer and air in spring 2027.
The Hollywood Reporter has reported that series creator Jacob Tierney shared the information with Gayle King on CBS Mornings this past Thursday. Tierney confirmed that the team was currently writing the script for the highly anticipated second season.
Bell Media and Crave, the studio and streaming company, confirmed the show is set to begin production. We can confirm production is set to begin on Season two sometime this summer, and we are aiming for a spring 2027 premiere,’ via The Hollywood Reporter.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Tierney stated that the team was working as fast they possibly could to bring the second season to the screen, “There will be more Heated Rivalry on your TVs, like, truly, as soon as humanly possible. Executive producer Brendan Brady added to Tierney saying that fans should “enjoy the yearn” in the spirt of the shows on again off again relationship.
Tierney and Brady spoke on working with Canadian streamer Crave, “They trusted me, but they also trusted the material, and the audience already loved this. What struck me was that there are a lot of people who think that they’re smarter than the audience that loves the book, and I don’t think they are,” via The Hollywood Reporter.
Tierney continued to explain the intricacies of adapting Rachel Reid’s book “This is what I told Rachel [Reid] — the thing I want to do with it is take it seriously, which is to say I don’t want to do what I think a lot of people do when they look at adapting romance, which is simplify, truncate, shorten,” via The Hollywood Reporter.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the show charts the years-long romance between two hockey rivals, Canada’s Shane Hollander and Russia’s Ilya Rozanov. Crave quickly renewed the smash hit, and HBO Max has scrambled to maintain streaming rights for the US. Author Rachel Reid has continued to expand on her fictitious hockey universe. She is currently releasing her seventh book and third in the series, entitled Game Changers.
The Hollywood Reporter reported the series has proven to be a breakout moment for the series stars Hudson Williams and Connor Storie. Storie will be a first-time host of SNL and was recently spotted with Luca Gudadingo, who will be directing the Upcoming A24 film Peaked. Williams is set to join another Crave series entitled Yaga.
