HBO’s Task has expanded its cast ahead of the series’ second season. According to Deadline, Tim Blake Nelson (Old Henry, Leaves of Grass, The Lowdown), Jharrel Jerome (Moonlight, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, When They See Us), Brían F. O’Byrne (Before the Devil Knows You’re Dead, Million Dollar Baby, Conclave), Bethlehem Million (Sick, Trim Season, Throuple), Kevin Dunn (Transformers, Warrior, Chain Reaction) and Andrew Russel (Sleeping with Strangers, Act One, FBI: Most Wanted) have joined the cast for season two.
Created by Brad Ingelsby (Mare of Easttown, The Way Back, Run All Night), Task is set in the working-class suburbs surrounding Philadelphia and follows an FBI task force attempting to stop a series of robberies targeting drug houses.
According to the official description for the upcoming season, Tom Brandis, played by Mark Ruffalo (Spotlight, The Avengers, The Kids Are All Right), will lead a new task force while navigating an increasingly complex investigation in which the line between the hunters and the hunted becomes increasingly difficult to distinguish.
Deadline also revealed the roles the new cast members will portray. Nelson will play veteran police officer Denny Coughlin, Jerome will portray Jordan Barnes, O’Byrne will play retired Drug Enforcement Administration agent Charlie Boylan, Million will portray Lisa Barnes, Dunn will play FBI agent Vince Runyan and Russel will reprise his role as Ethan Brandis.
The series also stars Mahershala Ali (Moonlight, Green Book, Jurassic World: Rebirth), Julianne Nicholson (Paradise, Blonde, Dream Scenario), Harry Melling (Pillion, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, The Old Guard), Adam Nagaitis (The Terror, The Commuter, The Man with the Iron Heart), Aminah Nieves (1923, A House of Dynamite, Dogwood), Edgar Ramírez (Point Break, Borderlands, Deliver Us from Evil), Martha Plimpton (The Goonies, Running on Empty, Beautiful Girls) and Silvia Dionicio (FBI: Most Wanted, Zodiac, New Amsterdam).
Ingelsby serves as creator, writer, showrunner and executive producer alongside Mark Roybal (Mare of Easttown, Doubt, Like Crazy), Jeremiah Zagar (We the Animals, In a Dream, Hustle), Ruffalo and Ron Schmidt (House of the Dragon, Mare of Easttown, Watchmen). Nicole Jordan-Webber (The Lost Bus, Echo Valley, Fixation) and Karen Wacker (Mare of Easttown, Friday Night Lights, House of the Dragon) also serve as co-executive producers.
