The Alec Berg & Bill Hader co-created series, Barry, will be debuting its second season on the night of March 31st at 10:00-10:30 p.m. ET/PT. The dark comedy series which stars the Emmy award winner himself, will return for an eight-episode run.
So far, the series has been a huge win for HBO and last September won three Emmys for its first season including: Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series for Hader, Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series for Henry Winkler, and Outstanding Sound Mixing for a Comedy or Drama Series (Half-Hour) and Animation.
The series supoorting cast is rounded out by actors: Stephen Root who plays Barry’s previous employer Monroe Fuches, Sarah Goldberg who plays Barry’s love interest and classmate Sally, and Anthony Carrigan who plays newly appointed Chechen mob boss, Noho Hank.
Season 1 saw the laconic hit man attempt to restart his life and leave his traumatic past behind in favor of his newfound passion, acting. But, after several unsuccessful attempts and a few unexpected twists, Barry finds that his former lifestyle isn’t so easy to leave without a few complications along the way.
At the start of the series’ second season, audiences will see Barry struggling to juggle his newfound hobby and romantic life, while also trying to outwit the Chechen mob. And although he manages to convine Gene Cousineau to continue teaching, Barry still has trouble juggling both of his double lives.
The rivalry between the Chechen, Bolivian and Burmese cartels, leaves Barry without very many options, just as two LA detectives close in on his trail. Meanwhile, Monroe Fuches still tries to manipulate the forlorn assassin into staying loyally by his side.
