Entertainment Weekly exclusively reported on a new show up for development. HBO and Peter Berg are set to begin the making of a new western entitled Untamed.
The western is described as “three mismatched travelers set out on a journey along the treacherous trek from 1840s Wyoming, across the Rocky Mountains to Utah—a journey where they’ll be forced to embrace some of their most primitive instincts, both good and bad, to survive” (Entertainment Weekly).
Untamed comes almost a decade after HBO’s previous western, Deadwood. Peter Berg who is known for his work on Very Bad Things, Lone Survivor, and Friday Night Lights, will serve as director and executive producer on the project. Peter Berg will work alongside Mark L. Smith (Vacancy and The Revenant) and Alissa Bachner. Smith will write and executive produce, while Bachner will be co-producing.
HBO is also working on other new and upcoming television shows. HBO is working on Jonathan Nolan and J.J Abrams’ Westworld and David Fincher and Gillian Flynn’s Utopia. We have previously reported on Westworld earlier in July and you can read more about it here.
HBO and Peter Berg have not released more information on the new and upcoming series set for development. Untamed is a new western in the works and is in HBO’s future.
