HBO plans to honor James Gandolfini with a retrospective special before the year’s end titled James Gandolfini: Tribute to a Friend.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Emmy-winning actor passed away from a heart attack on June 19 at 51 years old. He played Tony Soprano on HBO’s hit series The Sopranos. The special will have a 35-minute runtime and will include reflections from over two dozen of Gandolfini’s friends and colleagues. The special will also include clips of his work and behind-the-scenes footage.
Previously HBO began airing every season of The Sopranos for On Demand subscribers as a tribute to Gandolfini.
James Gandolfini: Tribute to a Friend premieres Sunday December 22, at 8:35 PM.
