HBO has revealed a new trailer for the upcoming Game Of Thrones prequel series, House Of The Dragon. HBO also revealed nine brand new character posters which feature the leads for the upcoming series.
The series will premiere on August 21st and is set 200 years before the events of Game Of Thrones. The series will tell the backstory of House Targaryen.
House Of The Dragon will feature a fairly large cast, including Paddy Considine (Dead Man’s Shoes) as King Viserys I, Emmy D’Arcy (Truth Seekers) as Princess Rhaenrya, who is Viserys’ first child and his heir apparent, Matt Smith (Doctor Who) as Prince Daemon, Viserys’ younger brother, Rhys Ifans (Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows: Part 1) as Ser Otto Hightower, the Hand of the King, Olivia Cooke (Ready Player One) as Lady Alicent Hightower, the daughter of Otto, Fabien Frankel (Venice At Dawn) as Ser Criston Cole, a knight with eyes for Rhaenrya, Steve Toussaint (Red, White, And Blue) as Lord Corlys Velaryon a.k.a. The Sea Snake, Eve Best (Much Ado About Nothing) as Princess Rhaenys Velaryon, and Sonoya Mizuno (Ex Machina) as Mysaria, confidante to Daemon Targaryen.
House of the Dragon was created by Game of Thrones author George R. R. Martin and Ryan J. Condal (Colony). The show is based on Martin’s novel Fire & Blood. Condal and Martin are executive producers on the series as well as Miguel Sapochnik (Repo Men), Sara Hess (Orange Is The New Black), Jocelyn Diaz (Serena), Ron Schmidt (Mare Of Easttown), Clare Kilner (The Wedding Date), Geeta V. Patel (Meet The Patels) and Greg Yaitanes (In The Cold Dark Knight). Sapochnik will also direct the series and serve as showrunner alongside Condal.
