HBO Reveals Casting Updates For ‘Game of Thrones’ Spinoff ‘A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms’

As HBO’s House of the Dragon recently closed out season two, fans of the Game of Thrones franchise are in for some additional stories to the universe, with spinoff A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms receiving production updates. According to TVLine, HBO has revealed that more actors will join the prequel series.

The announcement revealed A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms will include the talents of Henry Ashton (Outlander, My Lady Jane) in the role of Daeron Targaryen, a character with relations to season two of House of the Dragon, Edward Ashley (Masters of the Air, The Terror) in the role of Ser Steffon Fossoway and Tom Vaughan-Lawlor (Dublin Murders, Avengers: Endgame) in the role of Plummer via TVLine.

Additionally, the series will also include Daniel Monks (In the Room Where He Waits, Dead Hot) as Ser Manfred Dondarrion, Youssef Kerkour (Home, Marcella) as Steely Pate, Danny Webb (The Regime, Pennyworth) as Ser Arlan of Pennytree and Shaun Thomas (How to Have Sex, Emmerdale Farm) as Raymun Fossoway, per TVLine.

According to mxdwn, the official logline for A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms promises the following: “A century before the events of Game of Thrones, two unlikely heroes wandered Westeros. A young, naive but courageous night, Ser Duncan the Tall and his diminutive squire, Egg. Set in an age where the Targaryen line still holds the Iron Throne and the memory of the last dragon has not yet passed from living memory, great destinies, powerful foes, and dangerous exploits all await these improbable and incomparable friends.”

Mxdwn continues that the spinoff series is “based on George R.R. Martin’s (The Winds of Winter) Tales of Dunk and Egg novella, [starring] Peter Claffey (Harry Wild) as Dunk and Dexter Sol Ansell (Christmas on Mistletoe Farm) as Egg.”

According to TVLine, the spinoff series is scheduled to premiere sometime in June 2025 and will have six episodes for its first season.
