According to TVLine, HBO has just renewed the Emmy-award winning satirical drama anthology series, The White Lotus for a third season which will feature yet another brand new cast of characters, as well as a new series backdrop. This announcement comes just weeks after the release of the show’s second season, which premiered on HBO Max late last month on October 30.
The White Lotus is a comedy-drama anthology series revolving around a week in the life of several different affluent vacationers staying at the fictitious White Lotus Resort and Spa. The show follows the ignorant and often troubled tourists as their negligence and privilege threatens to undermine the same peace and tranquility that brought them to the White Lotus in the first place, often culminating with a tragic and deadly transaction that is sparingly hinted at in the season premiere and eventually fully revealed by the season finale. Season one of The White Lotus took place in Hawaii while season two currently takes place in Sicily, Italy. So far, a location for season three has yet to be announced by HBO.
So far, there has been little news regarding the casting information for season three of The White Lotus, including the possibility of Jennifer Coolidge (The Watcher, A Cinderella Story) returning as fan-favorite character Tanya McQuoid. According to TVLINE, series creator Mike White (Pitch Perfect 3, The One and Only Ivan) expressed his gratitude to HBO for his series’ continued success and is extremely excited for another season with the streaming service giant.
Francesca Orsi, HBO Head of Drama Series and Films, also took the time to praise both HBO and White for their collaborative teamwork, which she believes is a crucial component to the burgeoning success of The White Lotus.
For anyone looking to catch up on season two of The White Lotus, new episodes air every Sunday at 6 p.m. PST (9 p.m. EST), exclusively on HBO Max. The series’ second season finale is currently set to air on December 11.
