According to a press release by HBO, the network has renewed the most-watched comedy series ROOSTER for a second season. The first four episodes of the series’ first season average 5.8M U.S. viewers and are pacing as the most-watched freshman HBO comedy in over a decade. This renewal comes before the first season’s finale on May 10.
As per the press release, Amy Gravitt, EVP, HBO Programming, Head of HBO & HBO Max Comedy Series, said that. “It’s been heartening to feel the audience embrace ROOSTER, as we did when we first saw Steve, Bill and Matt bring this character to life. Along with our partners at WBTV and Doozer, we’re looking forward to seeing what Ludlow’s Spring Semester has in store for this incredible comedy ensemble.”

According to the press release, ROOSTER is a comedy set on college campus, centering on an author’s complicated relationship with his daughter. The series stars Steve Carell (The Office, The 40-Year-Old-Virgin) as Greg Russo, Charly Clive (All My Friends Hate Me, The Lazarus Project) as Katie, Danielle Deadwyler (The Harder They Fall, The Woman in the Yard) as Dylan Shepherd, Phil Dunster (The Devil’s Hour, Picture This) as Archie, John C. McGinley (On Deadly Ground, Scrubs) as Walter Mann, and Lauren Tsai (Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, Game of Spy) as Sunny.
ROOSTER airs every Sunday at 10:00 p.m. ET/PT on HBO and is available to stream on HBO Max.
