HBO Releases New Trailer for ‘True Detective: Night Country’

According to Deadline, HBO has released another trailer for the fourth season of anthology crime drama series True Detective, which is entitled True Detective: Night Country. True Detective: Night Country consists of six episodes and will premiere at 9 p.m. on January 14 on HBO. The series will be available to stream on Max as well.

True Detective: Night Country will star Jodie Foster (The Silence of the Lambs, Taxi Driver) and Kali Reis (Catch the Fair One, Black Files).

The cast will also feature John Hawkes (The Sessions, Winter’s Bone), Isabella Star LaBlanc (Long Slow Exhale, Pet Sematary: Bloodlines), Christopher Eccleston (Doctor Who, Come Home), Finn Bennett (The Nevers, Liar), and Fiona Shaw (The Avengers, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone). Aka Niviâna (True Detective, Borgen), Joel D. Montgrand (DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, Beans), Anna Lambe (Trickster, Three Pines), June Thiele (Atoms of Ashes, Adhara), and Diane Benson (White Fang, Alaska Daily) will guest star in the series.

Deadline reports that the official logline for True Detective: Night Country reads: “When the long winter night falls in Ennis, Alaska, the eight men who operate the Tsalal Arctic Research Station vanish without a trace. To solve the case, Detectives Liz Danvers (Foster) and Evangeline Navarro (Reis) will have to confront the darkness they carry in themselves, and dig into the haunted truths that lie buried under the eternal ice.”

Issa Lopez (Side Effects, Road to Fame) serves as showrunner, director, and writer of all six episodes. Cathy Tagnak Rexford (Effigies, A Crane Story), Princess Daazhraii Johnson (Molly of Denali, Big Miracle), and Sam Breckman (The Midnight Sky, Pokémon: Detective Pikachu) produce the series.

It is executive produced by Foster, Chris Mundy (Ozark, Criminal Minds), Nic Pizzolatto (Galveston, Blade), Cary Joji Fukunaga (It, No Time to Die), Alan Page Arriaga (Shining Girls, Fear the Walking Dead), Mari Jo Winkler (The Goldfinch, Dan in Real Life), Adele Romanski (The Freebie, Moonlight), Mark Ceryak (Aftersun, If Beale Street Could Talk), Steve Golin (Rendition, Boy Erased), Matthew McConaughey (Interstellar, Dallas. Buyers Club), and Richard Brown (Outlaw King, The Rabbit Hutch).
