HBO is having way to much fun trolling us about what’s going to happen to some of our favorite characters in Game of Thrones season 6.
Earlier this month, HBO released a chilling teaser trailer for GoT season 6, and they aren’t going to let us forget about it anytime soon. Today, HBO revealed two new posters for the upcoming and highly anticipated sixth season of GoT. Unfortunately, the posters feature images we’ve already seen before. I don’t say unfortunately because I was hoping for something new, I say unfortunately because it shows the faces of the show’s character in the Hall of Faces from the Braavosi House of Black and White.
HBO released the posters on Twitter, showing two versions of the poster, each one featuring different characters. Along with the full posters, HBO also filled up their followers’ Twitter feeds with up-close pictures of each face depicted in the posters.
If you are thinking that the characters in the poster look dead, that is the point. The Hall of Faces is where the faceless men store the faces of those who have died in the House of Black and White, and the faces become their disguises. Basically, any face in the Hall of Faces belongs to someone who is dead. That being said, it’s not surprising to see the faces of some of the characters who have died along the way such as Ned Stark (Sean Bean) and Joffrey Baratheon (Jack Gleeson), but nothing is sacred because even the faces of those still living like Arya Stark (Maisie Williams) and Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) look like they are in The Hall of Faces.
We should probably have expected something like this, considering these are the same people who brought the red wedding and characters like Joffrey Baratheon and Ramsey Bolton (Iwan Rheon) to the small screen. Our agony is their entertainment.
Instead of teasing one death, HBO seems to be telling us that anything goes this season. We should expect to be surprised and horrified, as per usual.
