HBO Max’s Titans is back for its third installment. The show, based off the DC comic Teen Titans, releases its first trailer and announces its schedule for the upcoming season.
HBO Max and DC have become a formidable duo and that trend has continued on with the fast-paced, superhero drama, Titans. Now on its third season, the show has grown before fans’ eyes as the young, talented cast continues to gel together.
Via Digital Spy, in the new trailer, Dick Grayson, once again, dominates the spotlight. The young hero, played by Brenton Thwaites (The Giver), was in a bind when last seen. He had just decided to take on the persona of Nightwing and after Iain Glen’s (Game of Thrones) Bruce Wayne decided to quit, was now having to take over for Batman. It did not help that Wayne’s main protegee, Jason Todd/Robin, played by Curran Walters (Best Worst Weekend Ever) is announced dead on a newscast in the new trailer.
Probably the biggest development from the trailer, though, is the new change of scenery in Titans. After spending the first two seasons in San Francisco, the show has decided to pack its stuff and move into Gotham. The fictional city is the home of Batman which hopefully means the audience will get to see more of the dark figure. This also brings the opportunity to see more heroes and villains from the town. Already the trailer announces the arrival of Vince Kartheiser’s (Mad Men) Scarecrow, who will create an unlikely aid for the young titans as a consultant from his cell in Arkham Asylum. Commissioner Barbara Gordon, played by Savannah Welch (The Virginity Hit), also will appear as the head of Gotham police.
Finally, we get a good look at the main villain, Red Hood, who seems to be a real threat in the new trailer. His menacing new look adds to the darkness of the show as it moves into season three. There is also a quick look at Starfire’s, played by Anna Diop (Us), new suit, but there is much left to the imagination with her and Teagan Croft’s (The Osiris Child) Raven for the next installment of the series.
The trailer has raised the hype for the next installment to an all-time high. The show will premiere the first three episodes on August 12th. After that, an episode will release every week.
