HBO Max‘s Emmy-awarding winning medical drama The Pitt will be debuting its first season on TNT on December 1, Warner Bros. Discovery said in a press release.
“All of us at The Pitt are very excited that the TNT audience will have the opportunity to see our Emmy award-winning show,” said John Wells, an executive producer on the series. “We’re also very grateful to TNT for allowing the series to be shown as it was initially shot and aired on HBO Max,” he added.
WBD said that three episodes will air back-to-back every Monday on the network through December 29. The series’ release on WBD’s cable network comes as the show is set to release its second season in January following a massively successful run on HBO Max in January of this year that saw each episode tallying 10 million-plus viewers, leading to the series’ renewal in February.
The series won in the Outstanding Drama Series category at the 2025 Primetime Emmys, where Noah Wyle, who headlines the series, won Outstanding Lead Actor while Katherine LaNasa won Outstanding Supporting Actress.
The Pitt follows Dr. Michael “Robby” Robinavitch in the emergency department of the Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Center, with each episode depicting an hour of Robinavitch’s 15-hour shift, according to an official synopsis provided by Warner Bros. Discovery.
The company stated that the show’s mission is to portray a “realistic examination of the challenges facing healthcare workers in today’s America as seen through the lens of the frontline heroes working in a modern-day hospital.”
The show has been celebrated by emergency physicians who say that it presents a genuine view of the trials and tribulations faced by health care workers and patients in emergency departments across the country. L. Anthony Cirillo, president of the American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP) said that The Pitt “offers a unique glimpse of the humanity of emergency care and what it takes to heal people within a broken system.” He added that the show’s TNT release will bring “new urgency to critical conversations about real health system fixes that emergency physicians and the millions of patients who rely on us need and deserve.”
Dr. Robinavitch is played by Wyle (ER, The Librarian), while the supporting cast of medical staff includes Tracy Ifeachor (Treadstone, The Originals), Patrick Ball (Law & Order), Katherine LaNasa (Truth Be Told, The Campaign), Supriya Ganesh (Grown-ish, Billions), and Fiona Dourif (Situations, The Blacklist).
Wells executive produces the series alongside Wyle, Erin Jontow (Emperor Of Ocean Park, Maid), Simran Baidwan (Manifest, The Good Doctor), Michael Hissrich (Shameless, The West Wing), and R. Scott Gemmill (The Unit, Smith), who created the series and serves as showrunner.
Season two of The Pitt will release on HBO Max in January 2026.
