Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin will serve as a reboot to the original series (2010-2017) but with a different version of the story and new characters. Accordingly, Aiono will play the character of a popular high school athlete who is dating Noa Oliver (portrayed by Reficco), a track star of her school and one of the main characters. Bechtel will portray Karen, the mean girl in school and one of the main antagonists. Johnson will play Sheriff Beasley, a dominant role in the Beasley family.
The reboot series will be developed by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa (Riverdale) and Lindsay Calhoon Bring (Chilling Adventures of Sabrina) based on Sara Shepard’s best-selling book series. Aguirre-Sacasa will serve as the executive producer along with Leslie Morgenstein, Gina Girolamo, Michael Grassi, and Caroline Baron. Warner Bros. Television, Aguirre-Sacasa’s Muckle Man Productions, and Morgenstein’s Alloy Entertainment will join together as production companies.
Other confirmed casts of the series include Malia Pyles (Baskets) and Zaria (Two Distant Strangers), who will be playing the characters Minnie and Faran. Lisa Soper, the production designer of Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, will direct the first two episodes.
