HBO Max’s Pretty Little Liars reboot, Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin has cast Bailee Madison (The Fosters) as its lead, according to Variety. Madison will join the previously announced leads Chandler Kinney (Lethal Weapon) and Maia Reficco (Club 57).
The original series starred Lucy Hale (Truth or Dare), Shay Mitchell (You), Ashley Benson (Spring Breakers), Troian Bellisario (Feed), and Sasha Pieterse (The Adventures of Shark Boy and Lava Girl) and followed the teens as they venture to unveil the identity of the mysterious ‘A,’ who continued to torment them by threatening to expose their deepest secrets. The series reboot is expected to follow a new set of teen liars who are made to pay for sins committed by their parents 20 years ago by an unknown tormentor, similar to the original Freeform (then ABC Family) show.
Madison will play Imogen, who essentially drives the mystery of uncovering a new ‘A.’ Pretty Little Liars ended its run in 2017 after having aired seven seasons and over 150 episodes. The show resulted in two spinoffs, Pretty Little Liars: The Perfectionists and Ravenswood. Both series were canceled after their debut seasons.
Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin was initially announced in September 2020 when the platform released a teaser, which can be watched below.
