

HBO Max has partnered with British streaming monarch BritBox to bring fifteen shows to American users from across the pond for a limited time, according to a Thursday report from Deadline’s Katie Campione. Programs such as Agatha Christie’s Murder Is Easy and the British version of The Office which served as the basis for the American workplace comedy will be available from today, August 1st, to September 29th.
BritBox President Robert Schildhouse commented on the promotional deal in a statement, also recorded by Deadline. “HBO Max viewers seek premium entertainment they can’t get anywhere else,” Schildhouse said. “Through this partnership, we are excited to offer them a premium collection of distinctly British series to complement their viewing experience, including acclaimed series, fan-favorite franchises, standout performances from celebrated talent, and exceptional storytelling across mystery, crime, drama, and comedy.” Warner Bros. Discovery Chief Financial & Strategy Officer of Streaming Joshua Walker added that the deal arose from a desire for “creative ways to bring more high-quality storytelling to our HBO Max audience” and that their “BritBox sampling gives our subscribers a chance to discover a variety of great British television series featuring rich, distinctive stories.”
The agreement mirrors a similar deal in 2023 between Warner Bros. and AMC Networks, which allowed HBO Max subscribers to watch programming like Interview with the Vampire and Killing Eve through a dedicated submenu within the app. BritBox’s analogue will be entitled “The Best of British TV By BritBox. The following programs will be available for the full duration of the partnership: Agatha Christie’s Murder Is Easy, Agatha Christie’s Towards Zero, Father Brown, Silent Witness, Shakespeare & Hathaway, The Inspector Lynley Mysteries, Sister Bonaface, Blue Lights, The Sixth Commandment, The Office (UK), Three Little Birds, Time, Why Didn’t They Ask Evans? (via The Hollywood Reporter). Luther and Sherwood are also part of the program, but will become unavailable on August 30th.
