According to Deadline, HBO Max’s Harry Potter series gets a premiere window during its production. The series based on J.K. Rowling’s (Twilight Tales, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them) fantasy books will finally have a time frame to air the new adaptation of the franchise.
“We’ve been saying 2027,” Casey Bloys (Less Than Perfect, The Pitt), Chairman and CEO of HBO and HBO Max Content, told Deadline during a wide-ranging interview. “I would say, to narrow it down to some extent, early 2027. And now you’re going to ask, does that mean January, February, March, April, that we’re not ready to say. I’ll say early 2027.”
As per Deadline, Bloys first addressed a potential premiere date for Harry Potter in a September 2024 interview via Deadline when he said, “late ’26-’27” before adding, “writers are just getting started so it’s too soon to talk about airdate.”
According to Deadline, HBO Max’s Harry Potter is based on the novel franchise with the same name that follows an orphaned boy who discovers he’s a wizard on his eleventh birthday, attending Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, where he befriends Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger and confronts the dark wizard Lord. The series franchise spans seven main books , eight movies and currently three Fantastic Beast films. Over the past year, as the series was written, cast and started production, its launch date had been listed as 2027.
As per Deadline, the cast of the series includes Dominic McLaughlin (The Red Admiral, Grow) as Harry Potter, newcomer Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley and Arabella Stanton (Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone) as Hermione Granger. The series has been filming in the United Kingdom since the summer. Its adult leads include Paapa Essiedu (I May Destroy You, Death of England: Delroy) as Severus Snape, John Lithgow (The World According to Garp, Terms of Endearment) as Albus Dumbledore, Janet McTeer (Me Before You, Gangs of London) as Minerva McGonagall, Nick Frost (The World’s End, Shaun of the Dead) as Rubeus Hagrid and many others.
