HBO Max Reveals New Cast Members for New TV Show ‘Dune: The Sisterhood’

According to Deadline, HBO has given an update for their new TV show Dune: The Sisterhood from Legendary Television. The series is set 10,000 years before the ascension of Paul Atreides and it will follow the Harkonnen sisters. The new TV show will be based on the Dune novel by Frank Herbert (Dune saga). 

It was revealed via Deadline, that the Harkonnen sisters will be played by Emily Watson (Chernobyl, The Book Thief) who will play Valya and Shirley Henderson (Harry Potter, See How They Run) who will be playing Tula. In the series, the sisters will combat forces that threaten the future of humankind and will leave a lasting legacy when they establish the fabled sect known as the Bene Gesserit. 

Part of the crew and showrunners behind Dune: The Sisterhood are Diane Ademu-John (The Haunting of Bly Manor, The Originals) who will serve as creator, writer, co-showrunner, and executive producer of the series and Alison Schapker (Westworld, Scandal) will serve as the other co-showrunner and executive producer. The director, co-writer, and producer of the 2021 Dune movie “Denis Villeneuve (Dune, Blade Runner 2049)” will serve as one of the executive producers for the show. 

Brian Herbert, son of author Frank Herbert, will also work as an executive producer for Dune: The Sisterhood. The Frank Herbert estate also sent Byron Merritt and Kim Herbert (Dune) to work as executive producers. Author Kevin J. Anderson (The Saga of the Seven Suns, Stake) has also been hired to work as co-producer for the show. 

The series will be co-produced by HBO Max and Legendary Television, the TV branch of Legendary which is the studio behind the current film franchise. The first movie of the franchise was released in October of 2021. 

The 2021 Dune movie follows Paul Atreides “played by Timothée Chalamet (Don’t Look Up, The King)” the young heir of a noble family. His parents Jessica and Leto Atreides “played by Rebecca Ferguson (The Greatest Showman, Doctor Sleep) and Oscar Isaac (Star Wars, Moon Knight)” become entangled in a war for control of the galaxy’s most valuable resource while Paul becomes troubled by visions of a dark future. 

Dune: The Sisterhood is still filming but don’t forget to watch Dune on HBO Max.
