Crazy in love doesn’t even begin to cover Hazel and Byron’s romance. According to TVLine, HBO Max Original Made for Love has been renewed for a sophomore season on the streaming platform.
Made for Love follows Hazel Green (played by Cristin Millioti, How I Met Your Mother), who is married to billionaire tech genius Byron Gogol (played by Billy Magnussen, Tell Me a Story), as she tries to escape her marriage upon learning that her husband has placed a chip in her brain without her consent. Thanks to that chip, Byron can track Hazel’s location no matter how far she runs from the hub that was their home and haven from the rest of the world.
The Black Mirror-esque show starring Millioti is prepared to continue off of the season one finale cliffhanger which saw Hazel and her father Herbert (played by Ray Romano, Everybody Loves Raymond) had returned back to the hub. According to TVLine, the showrunner for Made for Love‘s first season, Christina Lee (producer, Search Party) is returning for the second season of the show. However, season two will see the addition of Alissa Nutting (author, Unclean Jobs for Women), the author of the novel on which Made for Love is based, as a co-showrunner.
When speaking about Made for Love‘s renewal, Nutting stated, “We’re thrilled we get the chance to work with our incredible cast and crew again. We would’ve announced the pick-up earlier, but it was a beast closing [blow-up doll] Diane’s deal. Everyone thinks she’s a doll but she’s a real hard-ass.” (TVLine)
Diane, the doll Nutting refers to, is Herbert’s synthetic life partner from season one. She’s one of the many reasons HBO Max’s executive vice president of comedy and adult animation, Suzanna Makos, says, “Made for Love is funny, dark and entirely unique.” (TVLine)
