HBO Max just premiered the season four trailer for their DC Comics series Doom Patrol. This new trailer teases time travel and the looming threat of “the literal end of days,” according to Deadline.
In the trailer, one of the characters warns that the superheroes are wandering into the end of days and that something huge and dangerous is coming their way. Willoughby Kipling played by Mark Sheppard (Supernatural, Battlestar Galactica) also tells the members of the Doom Patrol that Immortus is real and it is coming.
According to Deadline, the Immortus Project seems to be a looming threat that can only be explained as the pursuit of immortality. It’s still unclear who the Doom Patrol are fighting against but there are some theories that it is the DC supervillain General Immortus. This villain was introduced as an enemy of the Doom Patrol in the 50s. The solution the members of the Doom Patrol find to the end of days is to travel back in time.
Some of the superheroes that form part of the Doom Patrol include Robotman aka Cliff Steele played by Brendan Fraser (The Mummy, The Whale); Negative Man also known as Larry Trainor played by Matt Bomer (Magic Mike, The Boys in the Band); Elasti-Woman aka Rita Farr played by April Bowlby (Father Christmas is Back, Gone Baby Gone); Crazy Jane played by Diane Guerrero (Orange is the New Black, Encanto); and Cyborg better known as Victor Stone played by Joivan Wade (The Dare, The First Purge). The Doom Patrol also includes former supervillain Madame Rouge also known as Laura de Mille who is played by Michelle Gomez (Doctor Who, Chilling Adventures of Sabrina).
The series also stars Skye Roberts (Over/Under, Hoodman) as Kay Challis, Riley Shanahan (The Gender Card Flip) as The Brain, and Matthew Zuk (Fear Street: Part Three, Greyhound) as Negative Man.
Doom Patrol focuses on individuals that suffered a horrible accident that left them scarred and disfigured but also gave them superhuman abilities. Part support group, part superhero team, the Doom Patrol is a group of superpowered freaks who fight for a world that shuns them away and wants nothing to do with them.
Season four of the show will premiere on December 8 with two episodes. New episodes will drop every week until the finale on January 5. Don’t forget to watch the trailer below.
