HBO Max has released the preview for episode four of new series The Last of Us. Based on the survival horror video game, the series takes place after a global pandemic destroys civilization, and follows hardened survivor Joel Miller, played by Pedro Pascal (The Mandalorian, Game of Thrones) as he takes charge of 14-year-old Ellie Williams, played by Bella Ramsey (Game of Thrones, Catherine Called Birdy) who may be humanity’s last hope.
In the preview Joel and Ellie come across a wounded man begging for help. Ellie questions whether they should help him, to which Joel replies with an aggressive “no” and drives forward, presumably crashing. Multiple clips are shown of Joel and Ellie on their journey to survive, accompanied with a voiceover saying “This has gone too far. It has to stop.” The preview ends with Joel reassuring Ellie, saying “we’ll get through this,” to which she responds “I know.”
Episode four, titled “Please Hold My Hand” according to Game Revolution, is set to premiere on Sunday, February 5 at 9pm EST on HBO Max.
Alongside Pascal and Ramsey, the cast includes Gabriel Luna (Terminator: Dark Fate, Bernie), Anna Torv (Fringe, Heavenly Sword), Merle Dandridge (Half-Life 2, Station 19), Jeffrey Pierce (Bosch, Call of Duty: WWII), Phillip A. Kovats (Uncharted: The Lost Legacy, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart), Lamar Johnson (The Hate U Give, Your Honor), Keivonn Woodard (Fractal, Seeds of Hope: The Andrew Jackson Foster Story), and Nico Parker (Dumbo, The Third Day).
