HBO Max And Cartoon Network Revive ‘Tiny Toons’

After 30 years of the initial airing of WarnerMedia’s animation Tiny Toons, HBO Max and Cartoon Network will be producing a reboot entitled Tiny Toons Looniversity, according to The Hollywood ReporterThe animated comedy will be produced by Steven Spielberg (E.T., Jaws) while Erin Gibson (Throwing Shade) is set to serve as showrunner and co-executive producer with Nate Cash (Adventure Time).

In the reboot, the Tiny Toons gang, including Babs, Buster Bunny, and Bugs Bunny, will attend Acme Looniversity, the institution where characters become professional toons while studying under the most well-known cartoon characters in history, the Looney Toons. The original Tiny Toons Adventures ran from 1990-1992.

In a statement, President of Warner Bros. Global Kids Tom Ascheim stated, “Tiny Toons Looniversity will capture all the clever, subversive, and smart humor that made Tiny Toons Adventures such a standout series. Fans old and new will love to laugh at and with these characters all over again,” via The Hollywood ReporterPresident of Warner Bros. Animation and Cartoon Network Studios Sam Register added, “For many kids, Tiny Toons was their introduction to the world of Looney Tunes and, over time, Buster Babs, Plucky, and all the characters grew to be just as beloved by an entirely new generation. The continuation of our great creative partnership with Amblin Television will bring these characters back for fans of all ages to enjoy.”

Thus far, the logistics of Cartoon Network and HBO Max’s collaboration has not been figured out. The cable network and streamer are also collaborating on the recently announced Batwheels series. Both series are the latest strategies in which WarnerMedia’s networks have worked towards building a connection between them and their newly launched streamer.
