According to Warner Bros. Discovery, HBO has unveiled the official teaser for the upcoming original documentary series, The Jinx – Part Two, set to premiere on Sunday, April 21 at 10:00 pm ET/PT. Subsequent episodes will air weekly on HBO and will also be accessible for streaming on Max. View the teaser below.
The Jinx – Part Two marks the latest installment in the pioneering Emmy-winning documentary saga The Jinx: The Life and Deaths of Robert Durst, created by Andrew Jarecki (All Good Things, Capturing the Friedmans), which originally premiered on HBO in 2015. The first documentary concluded with filmmakers miraculously capturing Durst’s hot-mic confession of killing his first wife, Kathie, his spokesperson Susan Berman, and his neighbor. This six-episode continuation delves deeper into the narrative, spanning over eight years of continued investigation by the filmmakers. It reveals previously undisclosed material, including Durst’s prison conversations and interviews with previously silent witnesses.
According to the press release, the docuseries is a Hit The Ground Running production directed by Jarecki. Executive producers include Zac Stuart-Pontier (Catfish, Martha Marcy May Marlene), Jarecki, and Kyle Martin (Tiny Furniture, Descendant); with production by Charlotte Kaufman (Terror Firmer, Kabukiman’s Cocktail Corner) and Sam Neave (Almost in Love, Unknown Soldier). Richard Hankin (16 Acres, Capturing the Friedmans) and Susan Lazarus (BlacKkKlansman, Paterson) handle co-production. HBO executives Nancy Abraham (The Loving Story, Leaving Neverland), Lisa Heller (The Janes, Leaving Neverland), and Sara Rodriguez (The Janes, 1000% Me: Growing Up Mixed) serve as executive producers.
According to WBD, The Jinx was nominated for six Primetime Emmy Awards, winning for Outstanding Documentary Or Nonfiction Series and Outstanding Picture Editing For Nonfiction Programming. According to a previous article by mxdwn, a made-for-TV movie chronicling the point of view of Durst’s first wife, Kathie, was set to be in production by Lifetime. Kathie disappeared in 1982, and it was long suspected that her husband, who had been known to be “troubled,” was likely her killer.
