HBO has made the announcement that both Issa Rae’s Insecure and Dwayne Johnson’s Ballers are being renewed. Insecure will now be airing for a fourth season and Ballers has been renewed for a fifth season. Right now the both the series air back-to-back on Sunday nights. The news of their renewal comes halfway through both of their current seasons.
Right now, Ballers is the network’s highest rated comedy. It goes into both the glamorous and cutthroat world of professional football from the view of past and present players. Johnson stars as ex-superstar Spencer Strasmore. His character has remade himself and become a financial manager for the current players. The cast members also include: John David Washington, Rob Corddry, Omar Benson Miller, Donovan W. Carter, Troy Garity, London Brown and Brittany S. Hall. The series was created by Stephen Levinson and the executive producers for the series are Karyn McCarthy and Julian Farino.

Insecure is created by Rae and Larry Wilmore. The series focuses on the friendship between two women that are dealing that are dealing with the real flaws and attempting to find their way though different worlds. They are forced to cope with a seemingly endless series of uncomfortable everyday experiences. Rae is joined by: Yvonne Orji, Lisa Joyce, Natasha Rothwell, Amanda Seales, and Y’lan Noel. The executive producers are Rae, Prentice Penny, Melina Matsoukas, Michael Rotenberg, Dave Becky, Jonathan Berry, Jim Kleverweis, and Dayna Lynne North.
