According to Deadline, an all-new third season of The Comeback is back. HBO is the network the show is set to be on.

Created by some very talented and familiar faces in TV comedy, star Lisa Kudrow (Friends, The Simpsons) and Michael Patrick King (Sex and the City, 2 Broke Girls), The Comeback has been on the verge of a return for about a decade, says Deadline.

Production on the final season of The Comeback kicks off this summer, according to Deadline, with its premiere set for 2026 on HBO and Max. Kudrow returns as Valerie Cherish, a faded sitcom actress documenting her bid for a career revival through a meta reality show bearing the same name.

According to Deadline, the cast will include a host of returning cast members, including Dan Bucatinsky (Scandal, Grey’s Anatomy), Laura Silverman (Bob’s Burgers, Adventure Time), and Damian Young (Ozark, The Trial of the Chicago 7), who are confirmed for the new season. The series is set to be executively produced by King, Kudrow, John Melfi (Sex and the City, And Just Like That), and Bucatinsky. With the show holding true to its original cast, it is good to hear how the characters have evolved or what pieces of them have stayed true.

“No matter what the industry throws at her, Valerie Cherish is a survivor. On the 20th Anniversary of her debut, Michael Patrick King and Lisa Kudrow have brilliantly scripted her return to HBO, and we can’t wait to see that,” said Amy Gravitt, EVP, HBO & Max Comedy Programming, to Deadline.

While a third season has not been officially greenlit, fan enthusiasm and creator interest have kept the possibility alive.

“Valerie Cherish has found her way back to the current television landscape. Neither of us are surprised she did,” said King and Kudrow via Deadline.
