According to a press release by Warner Bros. Discovery, a full trailer and official key art has been released for the second season of Nathan Fielder’s (Nathan For You, The Curse) critically acclaimed HBO comedy The Rehearsal, which is set to premiere on Sunday, April 20. The six-episode season will air on HBO following a new episode of The Righteous Gemstones and will be available for streaming on Max at 10:30 p.m. ET.

Originally debuting in 2022, The Rehearsal follows Fielder as he helps ordinary people prepare for major life moments by meticulously recreating them in elaborate simulations. With a team of actors, detailed set reconstructions, and nearly limitless resources, he aims to eliminate uncertainty and allow participants to practice real-life scenarios in a controlled environment. Max’s press release states that the new season will expand upon this concept as Fielder takes on a project of even greater magnitude—one that he believes affects everyone.

The first season of The Rehearsal was met with widespread praise, with Vanity Fair describing it as, “as enthralling and bizarre as life itself” and IndieWire calling it, “a grand HBO experiment.” Fielder serves as the show’s creator, writer, director, and executive producer. Notable producing and writing credits on the upcoming season include Fielder, Eric Notarnicola (Nathan For You, On Cinema), Carrie Kemper (Nathan For You, The Office) and Adam Locke-Norton (Nathan For You, How To With John Wilson), among others.

This second season appears to take on a similarly surreal tone as Fielder turns his focus toward aviation safety, organizing role-playing exercises with real and fake pilots. Drawing from patterns he has observed in airline disasters, he attempts to improve emergency preparedness through meticulous simulations. As in the first season, the ethical implications of these experiments seem to remain central, with several clips showing participants questioning the impact of Fielder’s methods on their lives.

With its blend of comedy and social experimentation, The Rehearsal will continue to push boundaries in its second season. Fans can catch the premiere on HBO and Max, with new episodes airing weekly.
