HBO is developing a new dark comedy titled The Rush Whisperer, starring Leslie Bibb (The White Lotus, Palm Royale, Popular). According to Deadline, Bibb will also serve as an executive producer on the project alongside Kristen Campo (See, The Good Guys, The Killing).
The series is described as a dark comedy set in the competitive and high-pressure world of sorority recruitment. The project is based on Grey Battle’s article “How Much Would You Pay for Friendship? Private Rush Coaches are Selling Teens the Sorority Dream,” which explores the growing business surrounding private consultants who help teenagers prepare for the sorority recruitment process.
Kelly Hutchinson (Dead to Me, Palm Royale) and Grace Parra Janney (Star Trek: Lower Decks, Solar Opposites) are co-writing the project. Both will also executive produce alongside Bibb and Campo. Scoop Wasserstein (The Outfit, The Watcher, The Last Thing Mary Saw) will executive produce for New York Magazine/Vox Media Studios, while Battle will serve as a consulting producer.
The project marks another collaboration between Bibb and HBO following her role in season three of The White Lotus. Bibb appeared as Kate Bohr, one of three longtime friends vacationing together at the show’s Thailand resort. Her performance contributed to the cast receiving an Actor nomination.
Bibb also guest starred on HBO’s Hacks alongside Jean Smart (24, Garden State, Babylon) and Hannah Einbinder (North Hollywood, Strange Planet, Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma), earning 2026 Emmy nomination for her appearance. In addition, she has been a series regular on Apple TV’s Palm Royale, continuing a run of prominent television roles in recent years.
The actress first rose to prominence as one of the leads of Ryan Murphy’s (Glee, American Horror Story, The Prom) WB series Popular. Her other television and film credits include Iron Man, Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby and American Housewife.
Bibb is next set to star opposite Brett Goldstein (Ted Lasso, Shrinking, Soulmates) and Lesley Manville (The Crown, Phantom Thread, Mrs. Harris Goes to Paris) in the Prime Video romantic comedy series Escorted.
The Rush Whisperer is currently in development at HBO. Additional casting, production and release details have not yet been announced.
