According to Deadline, fans once again created rumors of Euphoria’s cancellation. Although the wait for season three has been long, HBO has stated that the show will continue production for the upcoming year. Certain circumstances, such as the death of Angus Cloud (The Garfield Movie, Abigail) in July 2023 and the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes, were why the show has been delayed.
“Euphoria is going into production in 2025. Nothing has changed,” a representative of HBO discussed in a statement for The Guardian.
Deadline reported in July that the teen drama series is set to start production in July 2023 for its third season. The next season already sounds intriguing, with the main cast returning and an alleged time jump.
Last month, Zendaya (Shake It Up, Frenemies) talked about the time jump in Entertainment Weekly’s The Awardist podcast. “It’s important because there’s only so much high school drama you can deal with. ‘And then she cheats on her boyfriend again!’”
“I don’t actually know much about what is happening,” Zendaya continued. “I don’t quite know exactly what the season is going to look like, but I do know that the time jump is happening.”
“It will be fascinating to see and understand these characters outside of the context of high school and how all the stuff that we saw when they were kids and they were in high school affects the adulthood they have and who they become in a much bigger world. I’ll be interested to see what happens too,” she concluded on the podcast.
Euphoria stars Alexa Demie (Waves, Mid90s), Barbie Ferreira (Unpregnant, Nope), Hunter Schafer (Cuckoo, The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes), Jacob Elordi (The Kissing Booth, Priscilla), Maude Apatow (This is 40, Knocked Up), Sydney Sweeney (The White Lotus, Anyone but You) and Zendaya. Recurring characters include Alanna Ubach (Ted, Coco), Austin Abrams (Do Revenge, Paper Towns), Chloe Cherry (Web Young, Family Sinners), Eric Dane (Grey’s Anatomy, Charmed), Martha Kelly (Baskets, Gaslit), Nika King (50 First Dates, 65), Sophia Rose Wilson (Euphoria) and Storm Reid (The Greatest Showman, A Wrinkle in Time).
This is not the first time fans have created rumors surrounding the cast. According to Mxdwn, Colman Domingo (Fear the Walking Dead, The Color Purple) stood up for his cast as fans were mentioning the younger cast members were being unprofessional and creating a toxic work environment. Ferreira will not be coming back for season three, but it is not because of the toxic environment that allegedly caused her to break her arm after storming out per Mxdwn.
