HBO will debut an original comedy special with comedian Brett Goldstein (Ted Lasso, Shrinking). The special will be Goldstein’s very first comedy special. He shared his excitement over the opportunity in the HBO press release saying, “I’m so excited to do my first special, not on TV but on HBf**kingO!” Goldstein toured the US and Canada for his comedy show, which sparked traction from HBO to tape the special.
In the same press release, HBO shared some of Goldstein’s career insights. He started his stand-up career in 2006 and since then has had great success. This won’t be Goldstein’s first time hitting the small screen. He’s made a few appearances on Ted Lasso and Shrinking. Goldstein won an Emmy for Best Supporting Actor for his role in Ted Lasso. We’ve also seen the comedian appear on the big screen as well. Some movies he’s been in are Thor: Love and Thunder and SuperBob.
Via the press release, last year, Goldstein continued his career success at the Toronto International Film Festival and BFI London Film Festival with his film, All Of You, which Goldstein co-wrote and produced. Another film Goldstein is currently working on is Office Romance starring Jennifer Lopez (Shotgun Wedding, The Mother).
Nina Rosenstein, the Executive Vice President for HBO Programming, shared high praise for Goldstein in the same press release stating, “We all know Brett as an incredibly gifted writer and actor, but his roots are in stand-up. He has a razor sharp, dark sense of humor and is the perfect combination of British gentleman and cheeky troublemaker. We are so, so happy to work with him on his first special.”
Written by Goldstein, executive producers for the show are Goldstein, Jeff Tomsic (Tag, Brett Kreischer: Razzle Dazzle), Matthew Vaughn (The King’s Man, Argylle), and Molly Mandel (Disaster!, Perfectly Stupid). Tomsic also directed the production. The show has yet to have a release date but is rumored to be coming out in April.
Tune into Apple TV to catch Goldstein’s Emmy-winning performance on Ted Lasso.
