HBO chief Richard Plepler watched all six episodes for the new season. “It’s a spectacle. The guys have done six movies. The reaction I had while watching them was, ‘I’m watching a movie,’“ Plepler shared with Variety. “They knew the bar was high. They’ve exceeded the bar. I’ve watched them twice without any CGI and I’m in awe. Everybody’s in for an extraordinary treat of storytelling and of magical, magical production.”
His reaction led to some high expectations from fans. Each episode will have a running time of longer than 60 minutes. It seems like a necessary amount of time considering there will be only six episodes – the shortest of any season. The cast and crew have kept mum on what we could expect from the final season. With not many hints or spoilers on how everything will go about in the fight for the throne, fans are becoming restless with the long wait.
Producers have taken it upon themselves to prevent any leaks going out to the public. Iain Glen, who plays Ser Jorah Mormont in the show, shared how hectic it was behind the scenes.
“They’re absolutely paranoid now about anyone finding out anything about the series and spoiling it,” Glen shared with the BBC. “We weren’t allowed a written word on a page. Everything was accessed through iPads with different security you had to get through to access it, which caused a problem for the actors, I have to say. But we found a way, either on phones or with pads…for it to be available on set.”
