HBO Celebrates’The Last Of Us’ Day With Official Trailer And Art For Long Awaited Second Season

According to a Warner Bros. Discovery media release, HBO has unveiled an official teaser and artwork for the highly anticipated second season of their critically acclaimed drama series, The Last of Us, which is based on the popular video game of the same name. This was done in honor of the first-ever “The Last of Us Day.” The trailer starts with Joel, played by Pedro Pascal (The Mandalorian), talking to Catherine O’Hara (Home Alone), whose role in the season is still undisclosed, in a therapy session. It then pans to Ellie, played by Bella Ramsey (Game of Thrones), who is walking through a new town.

According to Warner Bros. Discovery, the official tagline of the season states, “After five years of peace following the events from the first season, Joel and Ellie’s past finally catches up to them, drawing conflicts with one another and a world oveflowing with more danger than the one they left behind.”

The teaser offers a glimpse into the challenges and dangers that await Joel and Ellie’s journey across the United States. According to an mxdwn post, fans can expect to see familiar faces, along with new ones such as Kaitlyn Dever (Dear Evan Hansen) as Abby, Isabela Merced as Dina, Young Mazino as Jesse, Ariela Barer (Marvel’s Runaways) as Mel, Tati Gabrielle (Uncharted) as Nora, Spencer Lord (Fishing for Love) as Owen, Danny Ramirez (The Falcon and the Winter Soldier) as Manny and Jeffrey Wright (The Batman) as Isaac.

According to Warner Bros. Discovery, fans are celebrating today, September 26, which has been named “Outbreak Day,” as it is a reference to when the virus took over the world within the franchise’s first video game. The official artwork shows the characters with items related to them, like Joel with a guitar silhouette and his watch, Ellie being presented with a butterfly and Abby with a wolf.

The series has been praised for its compelling storytelling, outstanding performance and the ability to stay true to the source material. While fans await further information on the release date for the second season, which is scheduled to premiere on Max sometime in 2025, the entire first season is available to stream on the platform.
