David E. Kelley (Big Little Lies) and Nicole Kidman (Moulin Rouge!) are teaming up yet again for a new HBO show titled The Undoing, as reported by Deadline. The show is directed by the Emmy, Academy Award and Golden Globe winning Susanne Bier (The Night Manager, Bird Box) and also stars Emmy nominee Hugh Grant (A Very English Scandal).
The six-part limited series was adapted by Kelley from author Jean Hanff Korelitz’s New York Times bestselling novel You Should Have Known. HBO has provided this logline for the show on their site:
“The story focuses on a successful therapist, Grace Fraser (Kidman), along with her husband, Jonathan (Grant), and their young son, who attends an elite private school in New York City. A chasm opens in her seemingly perfect life: a violent death, a missing spouse and, in the place of a man Grace thought she knew, only a chain of terrible revelations. Left behind in the wake of a spreading and very public disaster, and horrified by the ways in which she has failed to heed her own advice, Grace must dismantle one life and create another for her child and herself.”
Other stars joining the cast of The Undoing includes Edgar Ramirez (American Crime Story: The Assassination of Gianni Versace) as Detective Joe Mendoza; Noah Jupe (Honey Boy) as Henry Fraser, Jonathan and Grace’s 12-year-old boy; Lily Rabe (American Horror Story) as Sylvia Steinetz; Noma Dumezweni (Black Earth Rising) as Haley Fitzgerald; Sofie Gråbøl (Gentleman Jack, Fortitude) as Catherine Stamper; Matilda De Angelis (Italian Race, The Prize) as Elena Alves; Ismael Cruz Córdova (Berlin Station) as Fernando Alves; and Donald Sutherland (Citizen X) as Franklin Reinhardt, Grace’s father.
Kelley, Bier and Kidman are all executive producers on the show, along with Per Saari (Big Little Lies) of Blossom Films, Bruna Papandrea (Gone Girl, Wild) for Made Up Stories, and Stephen Garrett (Salmon Fishing in the Yemen) and Celia Costas (Closer).
The Undoing debuts on HBO October 25th and will be available for streaming after via HBO Max. You can check out the chilling teaser trailer for the new series down bellow.
